Promotes Lauren Young as Chief of Staff Transitions Mary McClure into New Role as District & Communications Director
Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas -- Today State Representative Jeff Leach announced two personnel transitions within his Capitol and District offices. Lauren Young who most recently served as Leachs Legislative Director will serve as Chief of Staff overseeing his state operation and managing the offices public policy initiatives.
Mary McClure who has served as Representative Leachs Chief of Staff since 2013 will transition into a new role as District & Communications Director where she will direct all constituent services within Representative Leachs District Office while managing the offices media and communication outreach.
I have worked diligently to assemble what I consider to be one of the best staffs in the entire Texas Legislature. I have taken great pride in surrounding myself with a hard-working talented and skilled team of fellow public servants that have a true commitment and devotion to the people we serve. Young a West Texas native and Baylor graduate joined Representative Leachs Capitol office in 2014. She quickly worked her way up to Legislative Director where she helped guide and direct Representative Leachs public policy initiatives during the 84th Legislative Session. Prior to her work for Leach Young served in the offices of U.S. Senator Ted Cruz and U.S. Congressman Mac Thornberry. Young also served in the office of State Senator Kel Seliger during the 83rd Legislative Session.
McClure a Collin County native and Baylor graduate began her work in the Legislature as Leachs Chief of Staff in 2013 where she oversaw Leachs Texas operation. Based from the District Office in Collin County McClure managed Leachs legislative agenda while running constituent services during the 83rd and 84th Legislative Sessions. Prior to joining Representative Leachs team McClure served as Campaign Manager for Collin Countys revered U.S. Congressman Sam Johnson where she ran his political operation in Texas.
Representative Leach serves House District 67 in the Texas House of Representatives representing portions of Plano Allen Richardson and Dallas in Collin County. Leach serves on the House Committee on Government Transparency & Operation and the House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence. He is a graduate of Southern Methodist Universitys Dedman School of Law and currently practices at the law firm of Gray Reed & McGraw P.C. He received his undergraduate degree from Baylor University. Jeff and his wife Becky are the proud parents of Brady (age 8) Charlotte (age 5) and Landry (age 1). They are active members of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano.
