On U.S. Senate’s “Putting the Brakes on Human Smuggling Act”
AUSTIN – Texas Motor Transportation Association President and CEO John D. Esparza today released a statement on Senator John Cornyn’s federal law enforcement bill – Putting the Brakes on Human Smuggling Act.
“It is our hope that this legislation will strengthen nationwide progress to prevent illicit trafficking cartels that prey on the transportation industry and endanger lives and livelihoods. As the voice of the Texas trucking industry Texas Motor Transportation Association will continue to advocate on behalf of ‘Putting the Brakes on Human Smuggling Act’ that complements the successful Texas state law and the Texas Hold ‘Em initiative.
“I applaud Senator Cornyn for his persistence and dedication to resolving smuggling issues that threaten safety and security. I urge other congressional leaders to support this proactive legislation that will give the federal government and states the authority to suspend commercial driver’s licenses for those who aid and abet illegal entry into the United States and revoke such licenses of those convicted of felony smuggling.”
