Statewide Ban on Texting While Driving to be Heard in Senate Committee

Supporters to join families who lost loved ones tom-craddickTexas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas  Rep. Tom Craddick (R-Midland) and Sen. Judith Zaffirini (D-Laredo) were notified by the Senate State Affairs Committee that House Bill 80 the Alex Brown Memorial Act a bill relating to a statewide ban on texting while driving will be heard in the committee meeting Thursday May 7 2015 at 9:00 a.m. in Capitol Extension Room E1.016. Supporters of House Bill 80 will join family members of individuals who lost their lives to a texting while driving crash at the hearing to testify in favor of House Bill 80. The bill is named in honor of Alex Brown. Alex lost her life in a texting while driving crash as she drove to school during her senior year in high school. The family has since formed the Remembering Alex Brown (RAB) foundation to raise awareness and support a Texas law. Family members of individuals who lost their lives to a texting while driving accident will be available to speak to the press after the hearing.
