Texas U.S. Senators Kay Bailey Hutchison & John Cornyn today called on President Barack Obama to expedite the consideration of the State of Texas request for a state of emergency declaration as severe weather from Tropical Storm Alex poses a threat to 19 Texas counties. President Barack Obama The White House Washington D.C. 20500 Dear Mr. President: The State of Texas requested a state of emergency declaration for the State of Texas as severe weather from Tropical Storm Alex poses a threat to 19 Texas counties.  We urge you to expedite the consideration of this request as the declaration is critical to ensuring that important recovery assistance is made available to the residents of Aransas Bee Brooks Cameron Duval Hidalgo Jim Hogg Jim Wells width=116Kenedy Kleberg Live Oak McMullen Nueces Refugio San Patricio Starr Webb Willacy and Zapata counties as soon as possible. We appreciate the efforts underway by the Federal Government to review the States request in a timely manner and ask that you give it due consideration.  You may be certain that we will work with the Administration to aid the victims of this potential disaster.
