State Representative Charlie Howard the Texas Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration announced a $3280000 airport improvement grant for the Sugar Land Regional Airport.

"I am pleased that the award winning Sugar Land Regional Airport was chosen for this $3 million grant" said Rep. Howard.  "The grant will allow aviation facility improvement that will keep the airport among the top regional airports in the county."
The grant will be used to expand the terminal apron.  The federal grant will cover ninety percent of the project cost and the City of Sugar Land will be responsible for the remaining ten percent.

"The City of Sugar Land Regional Airport is grateful for the opportunity to receive another investment of grant funding from the FAA administered by TxDOT Aviation.  This latest investment in the airport will allow us to continue to support the growing corporate aviation market in the Houston area.  It is good for the airport and good for the economy" added Phillip W. Savko Director of Aviation for the Sugar Land Regional Airport.

The Sugar Land Regional Airport received the 2007 Reliever Airport of the Year Award.
