Republican Leader Calls for Full Public Accounting of all Bailout and Stimulus Funds under Obama and Bush

(WASHINGTON DC) The U.S. Treasury Department should be required to post on the internet the identity of every business that has received federal bailout funds how much each received and what it was spent on according to House Republican Conference Secretary John Carter (R-TX).
The American taxpayer is being cleaned out and they deserve to know who is walking away with their money" says Carter a former Texas judge. I believe this latest outrage of $165 billion in bonuses to AIG executives is just the tip of the iceberg and the media and the voters deserve to know the name of every person and business involved in this historically-unprecedented national giveaway."
The ultimate judge in free nations is the voter" says Carter. But they cannot hold anyone accountable if theyre not allowed to examine the evidence. Thats precisely what is going on with both the original Bush Administration $750 billion bailout and the Obama Administration $1.3 trillion stimulus. President Obama pledged transparency; its now up to the House to guarantee the public starts getting more than promises."
Carter today introduced the Sunshine Policy on the Disclosure of All Money Spent on Federal Bailouts Amendment to H. Con Res. 85 which supports the Obama Administrations record-setting $3.6 trillion budget.
The resolution calls for the Secretary of the Treasury to post on the Departments official website the name address amount received and a detailed disclosure of monies spent on every business and individual receiving any funds under federal bailout and stimulus bills.
The Rules Committee is expected to decide later today on whether a vote will be allowed on Carters Sunshine Amendment.
