Bill means more jobs for Texas
Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Governor Perry has signed SB 1730. That new law will allow comprehensive development agreements for new transportation projects to continue and will create new mobility opportunities for Texas.
Texas has had great success with comprehensive development agreements. Through this tool we have been able to attract world-class companies like Cintra US to develop projects years sooner and at vastly reduced public costs than otherwise possible" said TAB President and CEO Bill Hammond. These globally respected companies are not only providing Texans with new transportation alternatives they are helping contribute to thousands of Texas based jobs and the vibrancy of our economy."
This new law will have the larger impact of improving the entire job climate of Texas. We always talk about how great the business climate is here in Texas" said Hammond. This new law is a good example of how our Legislators worked this session to keep our business climate the best in the country. It will mean new jobs and new investment in our infrastructure both things that this state needs."
Hammond said the state can no longer afford to do all of the transportation projects that we need. We must leverage the power innovation and resources of the private sector to help us build the infrastructure that we desperately need. Even if our Lawmakers pass more funding for transportation it will not be close to the amount we need to keep up with growth. Partnering with the private sector is the only way we can come close to doing that.
