Texas Workforce Commission

hope-andradeTexas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. –  The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) will host Del Rio-area employers, human resource professionals, business owners and managers at the Texas Business Conference Thursday, April 17 at the Del Rio Civic Center in Del Rio. The conference will provide valuable information for employers and business owners concerning the legal issues associated with operating a business in Texas.

“As a former business owner, I understand firsthand the challenges employers and managers face as they run a business. Our agency is committed to connecting Texas employers with the tools they need to navigate state and federal employment laws, and the unemployment claims and appeals processes,” said TWC Commissioner Representing Employers Hope Andrade. “Texas is a large, diverse state and the Texas Business Conference series is one way TWC brings agency resources directly to employers in their local area. We want to do our part to ensure all Texas employers have access to this valuable information.”

Employers will receive practical, up-to-date information for operating a successful business and managing employees. Seminar topics will include: Texas employment law and the basics of hiring; employee policy handbooks; unemployment claims and appeals; independent contractors; and federal and Texas wage and hour laws.

Participants will receive the latest edition of the popular publication Especially for Texas Employers and the accompanying CD, which addresses basic legal issues regarding hiring, post-employment and work-separation policies. Certified public accountants who attend can earn six hours of continuing education credit, and other conference participants may qualify for general professional credits.
