Published: 02-13-08(Austin) – The Texas Association of Manufacturers (TAM) political action committee the Manufacturers PAC of Texas (MPACT) today announced its endorsement of Rep. Charlie Howard (R – Sugar Land) in his primary race.
“Manufacturing is a driving engine of the Texas economy and we proudly support Representative Charlie Howard who consistently works to keep manufacturing in Texas strong” said Mark Bordas chairman of MPACT. “Representative Howard received our endorsement for his clear commitment to sustainable job growth and sensible tax energy environmental and transportation policies.”
The Texas Association of Manufacturers operates with an eye toward public policy’s impact on jobs the economic prosperity of Texas and manufacturers’ ability to remain domestically and globally competitive.
To protect and grow manufacturing jobs TAM is committed to a series of policy principles that focus on the development and promotion of market-based and cost-effective solutions in areas such as energy water air quality improvements in business tax structures and transportation.
TAM initiates standards of competitiveness to keep Texas on the cutting edge to attract manufacturers and grow jobs. For example TAM promotes workforce readiness and supports incentives for universities community colleges and technical schools to increase the number of graduates in critical fields such as engineering math physical science and math and science teacher education.

Rep. Howard is serving his seventh term as representative for Texas House District 26. In addition to his duties as chair of the House Local and Consent Calendars Committee he is also a member of the House Local Government Ways and Means Committee and the House Elections Committee.
