Texas Realtors passionately advocate for private-property rights by supporting efforts to enhance the lives of Texas property owners. These efforts have included support for property-tax relief and prohibiting sales taxes on real estate in 2015 passing consumer protections against unscrupulous property-tax lenders in 2013 eliminating most private transfer fees on real estate transactions in 2011 and enacting significant pro-consumer reform to the property appraisal system in 2009.
