Senator Wentworth received this recognition on Tuesday March 4 at the South Austin Business Council’s luncheon meeting in Austin.
Gary Thornton Austin Chamber of Commerce South Austin Business Council 2008 Chairman said “Senator Wentworth’s work on behalf of this district has helped improve the business climate for all of Texas. We greatly appreciate his efforts on behalf of South Austin businesses and are honored to present him with the Texas Association of Business Fighter for Free Enterprise recognition.”
TAB annually scores the performance of Texas lawmakers based on key business votes during the regular legislative session. Legislators who scored between 80-89 for the 2007 Legislative session are being recognized as “Fighters for Free Enterprise.”
“I am honored to be known as a Fighter for Free Enterprise” said Senator Wentworth. “I strongly believe that Texas’ bright economic future depends on hardworking Texans who are creative and take the initiative to start new businesses or expand existing ones -- and we in the Legislature must make sure not to overtax or over burden these entrepreneurial Texans from creating new jobs and economic growth for our state.”
TAB which was founded in 1922 is a broad-based bipartisan organization representing more than 140000 small and large Texas employers and 200 local chambers of commerce.
