The Affordable Care Act isnt affordable for Texas or Texans Unconstitutional
Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas There are really two issues here. The first is the fact that the Medicaid rolls will explode if the Affordable Care Act in its current form is allowed to continue" said Bill Hammond President & CEO of the Texas Association of Business.
The Affordable Care Act is a threat to the financial well being of business the state of Texas and the citizens of Texas.
The taxpayers of Texas simply wont be able to foot the bill on a state or national level if that happens. We will be in the position of cutting needed services in other parts of the budget or raising taxes. Neither is good for the people of Texas or for Texas businesses."
Hammond said the other problem is having the federal government mandate that all of us buy something in this case health insurance.
The real issue for me is if this is upheld as constitutional then what will be next? Will the government mandate I buy broccoli and eat it because its good for me?
Will it mandate that I buy an electric car and drive it? To what extent will the federal government pick and chose winners in the free market by mandating that certain things be purchased because they are good for us.
That doesnt much sound like the free market to me."
The Affordable Care Act also will mean many businesses that offer health insurance to their employees now will simply pay a fine and drop that coverage.
That will greatly increase the federal debt and deficit." said Hammond. Thats not fair to

anyone."
It is my hope that the U.S. Supreme Court will overturn the Affordable Care Act so that we can begin the process of replacing it with something that is fair for everyone and wont bankrupt the country and state."
