Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas After winning 21 of the 22 counties and receiving 49 of the vote in the May 29th Republican Primary McKnight continues to add key endorsements in runoff election.
Texas House District 68 Throckmorton rancher Trent McKnight has been endorsed by Texas Commissioner of Agriculture Todd Staples in the July 31st Republican Primary Runoff election for House District 68.
Trent is a dynamic and energetic leader that understands rural Texas the importance of protecting private property owners rights and keeping government limited" Commissioner Staples said. Texas needs more leaders like Trent who will fight for taxpayers and against government growth.
In the May 29th Republican Primary McKnight won 21 of the 22 counties in HD 68 and received 49 of the vote in a field of four candidates. He is a former national President of the Future Farmers of America and served as chairman of the U.S. Department of Agricultures Committee on Beginning Farmers and as a citizen advisor to the U.S. military in Iraq.
McKnight has also been endorsed by retiring State Rep. Rick Hardcastle (R-Vernon) the Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers and the Texas Farm Bureau. He has received an A" candidate rating by the NRA and is avid outdoorsman.
McKnight is also founder of Rural Young Professionals and co-founder of ruraltopia.com which promotes economic growth in small communities. In addition he has served on the Brazos River Authority board as an appointee of Governor Rick Perry. McKnight has a bachelors degree in agricultural economics from Oklahoma State University and a masters degree in Comparative Politics. He is a member of First United Methodist Church where he is active in homeless and international ministry projects.
Texas House District 68 now includes Childress Collingsworth Cooke Cottle Crosby Dickens Fisher Floyd Garza Hall Hardeman Haskell Jack Kent King Montague Motley Stonewall Throckmorton Wheeler Wilbarger and Young Counties.
