Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar Announces Match the Promise Scholarship Awards for Texas Students

glenn.hegarTexas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar today announced 75 schoolchildren were awarded scholarships through the Texas Match the Promise FoundationSM scholarship program. I want to congratulate all the winners of this years Match the Promise Foundation scholarship awards" Hegar said. These young minds represent the future of our great state and reading their essays gives me tremendous confidence in the next generation of Texas professionals. Im proud that our Match the Promise Foundation can play a part in making that future a reality for these young Texans." The foundation provides matching scholarships and tuition grants for participants in the Texas Tuition Promise FundĀ® the states prepaid college tuition plan. The scholarships are open to all Texas students in grades five to nine who meet the eligibility guidelines. To pursue these scholarships students submit applications as well as essays about a career they find interesting and the type of education they would need to succeed in it. The Match the Promise Foundation a 501(c)(3) public charity awards scholarships in the form of tuition units that can be redeemed for payment of tuition and school-wide required fees at Texas public colleges and universities. Seventy-five 5th through 9th grade students were approved for matching scholarships in the form of tuition units worth up to $1500. For the winning students the foundation will provide a match for up to $500 in tuition units during the current sales period awarding a three-to-one match to recipients with annual family incomes of $75000 or less and a one-to-one match to recipients with annual family incomes between $75000 and $100000. The top 12 ranking applicants were also recognized with an additional Promise Scholarship a one-time grant of tuition units worth $2000 at todays prices. The foundation will accept applications for the next round of scholarships from Sept. 1 2015 through Dec. 31 2015.
