Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas — Calling him a “Texas Conservative Hero,” Texas Eagle Forum President and former Republican Party Chair Cathie Adams today endorsed State Senator Glenn Hegar in his Republican Primary race for Texas State Comptroller
“Senator Glenn Hegar is a proven conservative leader for the critical issues facing our state—both fiscal and social,” said Adams.
“Since first being elected to the Texas Legislature, Glenn Hegar has helped lead the fight to protect Texas taxpayers and families. He has been on the front lines in the Texas Legislature to keep taxes low, keep state spending in check, protect private property rights, defend our constitutionally guaranteed personal freedoms, and protect the sanctity of human life,” Adams added.
Adams made special note of Senator Hegar’s leadership and fortitude during the first and second called sessions of the 83rd Texas Legislature as the principle author and senate sponsor of critical pro-life legislation, now signed into law, that will prevent abortions in Texas after five months and help protect women by improving the health and safety standards for abortion providers.
“During both special sessions, Senator Hegar showed tremendous character and integrity as author of important pro-life legislation,” stated Adams. “He listened to Senators’ concerns and thoughtfully explained his bill employing great patience. Senator Hegar is a true statesman, and we need his principled leadership as our next Comptroller of Public Accounts,” she concluded.
Hegar said that he was honored to add Cathie Adams name to his ever growing list of supporters in his race to replace State Comptroller Susan Combs, who is retiring at the end of her current term of office.
“Cathie Adams has long been recognized as a conservative leader in Texas and I am proud to have her active and energetic support in my race for Comptroller,” Hegar said.
