The incumbent governor took 55 of the total votes winning against his rival Bill White with only 42 of the votes.
James Richard Rick" Perry is the 47th governor of Texas having held the office since 2000. He is a member of the Republican Party.
He assumed office as governor in December 2000 when Governor George W. Bush resigned to become the US President.
Perry was elected to two full terms in 2002 and 2006 and now in 2010 won to his third full term.
