State’s most current employment data for September and October will be available
Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – As a result of the federal government shutdown, the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) announced today that Texas labor market data, including the total nonfarm jobs and the unemployment rate for September and October, have been rescheduled for release on Friday, Nov. 22 at 9 a.m.
Due to a lapse in federal funding, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data collection, analysis, and dissemination activities were suspended from Oct. 1 through Oct. 16. This also affected state data collection, since TWC produces state economic data in cooperation with the BLS.
The federal shutdown has also caused a delay in the release of corresponding national economic figures, BLS officials announced earlier this month.
In addition to the report on monthly jobs and the unemployment rate, various monthly economic publications published by TWC, including the Texas Labor Market Review and Local Economic Profiles will be available for the October preliminary estimates. TWC will not publish the monthly economic publications for the September data however, the current September data will be accessible.
