BRENHAM TX – Texas’ farming and ranching communities threw their steadfast support behind U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX 10) for another term in Congress Thursday.
The Texas Farm Bureau presented a “Friend of Farm Bureau” award on behalf of the American Farm Bureau Federation to Congressman McCaul at the Brenham Livestock Auction thanking him for standing up for farming ranching and private property rights in Washington.
The “Friend of Farm Bureau” award is given at the end of each Congress to those members who have a positive voting record on those issues important to agriculture and the Farm Bureau and who are accessible and responsive to Farm Bureau members and leaders.
“Our farmers and ranchers are the life-blood of this country” said Rep. McCaul. “It makes me proud to have their support and trust. We must ensure that they will always be able to put food on the tables of American families at an affordable price.”
Congressman McCaul has consistently voted in the best interest of farmers and ranchers since he was first elected to Congress in 2004. Earlier this year he voted to override the president’s veto of the Farm Bill which included commodity price supports. “Congressman McCaul listened to our concerns and took a bold step” said Steve Pringle of the Texas Farm Bureau after the vote.
Congressman McCaul will continue to fight for private property rights and to repeal the Death Tax which is set to expire completely in 2010.
