Hammond: Innovation Investment Should Drive Texas Road Solutions
Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas We must invest in our transportation infrastructure or well pay a price far greater than any toll road or tax that groups like TURF oppose.
Well lose businesses and jobs said Bill Hammond President & CEO of the Texas Association of Business in response to
the TURF Lobby Day at the Texas Capitol.
Growth shouldnt equal gridlock. Saying no to public-private partnerships and rejecting appropriate sources of additional revenue for roads does not advance the interests of Texas families and employers who need a better transportation system.
Addressing the highway funding shortfall must continue to be a legislative priority. Our quality of life will decline and our economy will suffer.
We need to more fully invest in proven innovations like public-private partnerships that are quite literally paving new roads for our state faster than traditional limited funding could ever accomplish. And its wise to consider additional

revenue through an increase in vehicle registration fees dedicated to transportation infrastructure.
Theres not a silver bullet that will solve Texas transportation woes. Instead the path forward rests on using a wide-range and full complement of funding tools and road building options."
Founded in 1922 the Texas Association of Business is a broad-based bipartisan organization representing more than 3000 small and large Texas employers and 200 local chambers of commerce.
