Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON DC Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) issued the following statement in support of todays decision by the Supreme Court to deny an emergency request to block Voter ID laws in Texas:
The Supreme Court was right to uphold Texas law today. We must protect the sacred right to vote and ensure that voter fraud does not take place in the voting booths. Americans need identification to get on an airplane rent a car open a bank account cash a check go into a federal building buy alcohol or apply for food stamps. There is no reason it shouldnt be required for voting as well. I will continue to do all I can to protect the right to vote."
The high court case is Veasey v. Abbott (15A999).
