Federal revisions move Texas job gains back into the positive column

AUSTIN Texas seasonally adjusted nonagricultural employment rose by 19900 jobs in the past 12 months compared with job losses of 3.5 million nationwide during the same period according to revised seasonally adjusted data released Wednesday by the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The federal revisions added 25200 jobs to original January employment estimates released last week.
Revised data show Texas employers lost 50600 jobs in January rather than the loss of 75800 jobs as reported March 5 2009. January Manufacturing employment was revised to include 25100 more jobs than originally estimated.
The statistical revisions are pursuant to additional data that became available after the March 5 2009 data release of January 2009 figures.
Please note that this data again will be revised on March 26 2009 with the release of the January 2009 final and February 2009 preliminary estimates.
