Date to be determined for release of all statistical employment data
Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas — As a result of the federal government shutdown, the September labor market data for Texas, including the total nonfarm jobs and the unemployment rate, will be postponed from the previously scheduled date of Oct. 18, 2013, the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) announced today.
The federal shutdown has caused a delay in the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) Bureau of Labor Statistics’ (BLS) release of corresponding national economic figures, DOL announced earlier this month. TWC produces state-level monthly economic estimates in cooperation with BLS.
In addition to the report on monthly jobs and the unemployment rate, various monthly economic publications including the Texas Labor Market Review and Local Economic Profiles will also be delayed. These will be updated and made available as soon as possible once BLS operations resume.
