Perry Names Ford Chair & White Vice Chair - Also appoints six members
AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry has named Michael Ford of Amarillo chair and John White of Plano vice chair of the Texas Low Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Compact Commission for terms to expire Nov. 25 2014.
The governor also appointed six members to the commission which was created pursuant to Senate Bill 1206 in the 73rd Legislature to provide for the management and disposal of low level radioactive waste while maintaining the priority of the health safety and welfare of citizens.
Ford is a program manager at B&W Pantex LLC. He is a certified health physicist and a member of the Health Physics Society and Tau Beta Pi National Engineering Honor Society. He is also a member and chairman of the Texas Radiation Advisory Board. Ford received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in health physics from Texas A&M University.
White is the radiation safety officer at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. He is a member and past president of the South Texas Chapter of the Health Physics Society Board of Directors and a member of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and American Mensa. He is a radiological emergencies volunteer with the Medical Reserve Corps and a trainer with the National Disaster Life Support Foundation. White received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Richard H. Dolgener of Andrews is the Andrews County Judge. He is a member of the Texas Association of Counties West Texas County Judges and Permian Basin Regional Planning Commission. He is also a volunteer with the Andrews Downtown Lions Andrews Food Bank and Kairos Prison Ministries. Dolgener attended the University of Texas at the Permian Basin.
Bob Gregory of Austin is president of Texas Disposal Systems. He is a member of the National Solid Wastes Management Association Young Presidents Organization and Solid Waste Association of North America.
He is also a past member of the Municipal Solid Waste Management and Resource Recovery Advisory Council that advises the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality about waste management regulations. Gregory is a member of the Capital Area Council of Boy Scouts Board of Directors and a past president of Keep Austin Beautiful. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
Kenneth L. Peddicord of College Station is an engineer and director of the Texas Engineering Experiment Station. He is also senior associate dean of research and a professor of nuclear engineering at Texas A&M’s Dwight Look College of Engineering.
Peddicord is a consultant for Pacific Northwest National Laboratories Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Los Alamos National Laboratory. He is a member of the American Nuclear Society American Society of Mechanical Engineers and American Society for Engineering Education. Peddicord received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame and a master’s and doctorate degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Illinois.
Robert C. Wilson of Lockhart is a partner at Jackson Sjoberg McCarthy & Wilson L.L.P. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas Caldwell County Bar Association and University of Texas School of Law Environmental Law Clinic Advisory Board. He is also a member of the Health Physics Society Texas Water Conservation Association and Texas Mining and Reclamation Association and an associate member of the State Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors. Wilson received a bachelor’s degree and law degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
