Based on No Science Promoted by a “Dangerous” Professor

width=250width=65The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission (TPWC) is considering regulations which would limit one Texas businesses’ right to fish off the Texas coast solely on the musings of a self-proclaimed Maoist from New Jersey.

An English professor from Rutgers University is pushing the TPWC to issue regulations which would have significant negative impact on a Texas-based company that provides nutritional supplements to the Texas school lunch program.

H. Bruce Franklin an English and American Studies professor has been listed in a book by David Horowitz as one of the 101 most dangerous professors in the US. His anti-American activities have been chronicled in Time Magazine and numerous media outlets.

“I was alerted to the fact that this nutty professor was proposing Texas regulate menhaden fishing off the coast of Texas” said Peggy Venable director of Americans for Prosperity-Texas.

“I just Googled the guy and was astonished to find that this professor is a self-proclaimed Maoist and has made some shockingly anti-American statements” said Venable.

“I would have thought it was a joke that Texas policymakers would even give this man the time of day” said Venable “but it appears the TPWC is considering his recommendations.

Franklin an author of science fiction wrote a book based on a fish which is used to produce heart healthy Omega-3 supplements as well as livestock feed and fertilizer. Franklin contends that the fish is overfished.

Experts have denied that the menhaden is being overfished and studies have found that the stock is healthy.

“It is ludicrous to us that Texas would take regulatory action which would negatively impact this industry with a Texas business at stake” said Venable. “We hope that sound science and common sense prevails.”
