Duncan instrumental in passing laws to protect children of Texas

Texas PTA will present Senator Robert Duncan with a certificate naming him to PTAs Legislative Honor Roll for his work during the 82nd session of the Texas Legislature. This presentation was during the Lubbock ISD Council of PTAs meeting where Duncan is being recognized for his principled committed work on behalf of Texans of all ages.
In October 2009 the Texas PTA Legislative Action Committee created the Texas Legislative Honor Roll to recognize elected or appointed officials at the state level who supported the Texas PTA legislative agenda. Criteria for selection included:
- An elected or appointed official at the state level
- Strong advocate for childrens issues
- Supporter of legislation or actions that benefit children and youth
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to one or more priorities on Texas PTAs legislative agenda
Senator Duncan (R) Lubbock serves on the powerful Senate Finance Committee Senate Higher Education Committee Senate Natural Resources Committee Senate Jurisprudence Committee and chairs the Senate State Affairs Committee.
This session he carried a much needed bill to create a policy for applied STEM courses - applied science technology engineering and mathematics courses required for high school graduation providing needed flexibility for high school students.

Individuals recognized for the Texas PTA Honor Roll should demonstrate initiative to enhance the quality of life for children and youth improve the quality of education for all children and youth strengthen families improve child safety standards show support for children youth families and PTA-related positions and lend support to a current Texas PTA legislative priority.
