Texas School Finance Court Date Set

School Finance Trial Set to Begin October 22 width=125Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Mark Trachtenberg an attorney with Haynes & Boone which represents 86 school districts (many of them Texas School Coalition members) in a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the state school finance system issued the following statement today after state district Judge John Dietz set an October 22 2012 trial date for the school finance lawsuit: We are glad that the judge gave us a prompt trial date and put us on an expedited schedule because it is important that the Texas Legislature have guidance from the court in time to act during the 2013 legislative session. We look forward to putting on our case along with the other plaintiff coalitions.  We intend to prove that the Legislatures massive funding cuts to public education along with other factors have deprived our districts of the resources needed to meet the standards the State itself has identified as the measure of a constitutionally adequate education."
