Jones campaign continues gaining ground elizabeth-ames-jonesAUSTIN TX - Today at the end of a tumultuous week for Texas Democrats that has not yet fully played out it appears former Houston mayor Bill White a liberal Democrat may drop his bid for the U.S. Senate and instead will run for Governor.  Just last week Republican State Senator Florence Shapiro suspended her campaign for the U.S. Senate and chose to run for re-election to the Texas Legislature.   Said Railroad Commissioner & current U.S. Senate Candidate Elizabeth Ames Jones earlier this week As the field narrows my U.S. Senate campaign continues to gain momentum. The tremendous level of support and encouragement I am getting across this great state is simply overwhelming and is a direct response to my commitment and dedication to being the conservative leader in Washington who Texans want and deserve Texans know what I am made of because I am a conservative like them said Jones.  mayor-bill-whiteSenator Hutchison has made it clear she will resign after the March Republican primary.  I will hit the ground running as soon as her resignation is official and I will take Texass limited government philosophy to Washington added Jones. Jones 53 was elected to the Texas Legislature in a landslide upset victory in 2000.  In 2005 she was appointed by Governor Perry to a vacancy on the Texas Railroad Commission and was overwhelmingly elected to serve a six-year term in 2006.
