Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas (June 1 2016) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved $525689 in grants through the TWDBs Agricultural Water Conservation Grants Program. The program offers grant funding to state agencies and political subdivisions for activities that promote water conservation in our state.
The grant recipients are Texas A&M University and the University of Texas at Austin which filed a joint application; North Plains Groundwater Conservation District; Hidalgo County Water Control & Improvement District No. 19; Texas A&M AgriLife Research; Chambers-Liberty Counties Navigation District; Texas A&M AgriLife Extension; and the Sutton County Underground Water Conservation District.
The grant recipients qualified in one of three categories:
- Technical Assistance Outreach Education and Demonstrations
- Agricultural Water Use Monitoring Equipment
- Feasibility Study for Development of a Statewide Evapotranspiration Network
A Request for Applications was posted for the grants in the
Texas Register on December 25 2015. Applicants had until February 17 2016 to submit their application.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the states water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply wastewater treatment flood control and agricultural water conservation projects.
