Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas More than 1100 Texas middle and high school students will display their outstanding projects at the 2015
Texas Science and Engineering Fair. The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) continues its commitment to the success of tomorrows workforce by co-sponsoring the event for the 14th consecutive year.
The fair which is being hosted by The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) begins with early check-in in on Thursday March 26 and culminates with a junior division awards presentation on Saturday March 28 and a senior division awards presentation on Sunday March 29 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio.
The Texas Workforce Commission is proud to sponsor this event which showcases the talent and hard work of Texas students" said TWC Chairman Andres Alcantar who will address the students at the awards ceremony. The students participation in this competition will help them unlock their potential for future science technology engineering and mathematics (STEM) careers."
This event brings out the best and the brightest students of all backgrounds" said TWC Commissioner Representing Labor Ronny Congleton. Our hope is that these young people become inspired to continue to use those skills once they enter Texas workforce."
The Texas Science and Engineering Fair is officially sanctioned by the Society for Science & the Public the annual host of the
Intel International Science and Engineering Fair. Awards will be presented to students in 17 project categories in each of two divisions.
We want to ignite a passion for discovery among young people across Texas" said TWC Commissioner Representing Employers Hope Andrade. TWC is committed to providing a setting in which outstanding students can showcase their research projects in the STEM fields."
Winners from the science fairs senior division will qualify for the Intel ISEF competition in Pittsburgh in May and will also earn a spot at the Texas Governors Science and Technology Champions Academy a weeklong residential summer camp also sponsored by TWC which will be held this summer at Texas A&M University.
