As top trading partner, Canada is U.S.’s largest supplier of oil, providing nearly 3 million barrels per day
Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – Now entering its 10th year, the Austin Economic Club (AEC) announced it will open its “2014 Distinguished Lecture Series” by hosting the Canadian Ambassador to the United States, His Excellency Gary Doer, for a Luncheon on Friday, March 7th at the Austin Club in Austin, Texas.
As our nation’s top trading partner, Canada plays an integral role in U.S. job creation. It is also our largest supplier of oil, providing nearly 3 million barrels per day, or more than 30% of U.S. imports.
Ambassador Doer will discuss Canada’s position as a stable, secure and environmentally responsible energy supplier to the U.S., and the world … in which the Keystone Pipeline is but one part of a greater, but crucial energy security agenda.

Ambassador Doer assumed his responsibilities as Canada’s 23rd Representative to the United States in October 2009. Prior to taking his current position in Washington, D.C., Doer served as Premier of Manitoba for 10 years. During that time, he worked extensively with U.S. Governors to enhance Canada-U.S. cooperation on trade, agriculture, water protection, climate change and renewable energy.
