H.R. 3082 - Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act
On Friday the House passed H.R. 3082 the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs appropriations bill.
I voted in favor of this bill because it provides vital funding and health services which includes $85 million in grants to Extended Care Facilities for States to construct and renovate VA extended care facilities for our nations veterans as well as funding for building and maintaining military installations. The bill contains a total of $77.9 billion in discretionary spending and an additional $48 billion in advanced appropriations for FY 2011.
H.R. 2965 - Enhancing Small Business Research and Innovation Act
On Wednesday the House passed H.R. 2965 the Enhancing Small Business Research and Innovation Act which would reauthorize the Small Business Innovation Research Program (SBIR) and the Small Business Technology Transfer Program (STTR) for two years through September 30 2011. This program requires certain federal agencies to set aside a percentage of their extramural research and development budget for the purpose of developing projects produced by small businesses.
H.R. 3081 - Department of State Foreign Operations and Related Programs Appropriations Act
On Thursday the House passed the FY2010 Department of State Foreign Operations and Related Programs Appropriations Act. This bill spends $49 billion in foreign aid a staggering $12.4 billion or 38.8 increase in funding from FY2009. While I support many of the provisions in this legislation I could not in good conscience vote for this bill because of the irresponsible amount of money that it sends overseas during this time of economic crisis here at home.
H.R. 2997 - Agriculture Rural Development Food and Drug Administration and Related Agencies Appropriations Act
This week the House passed the Agriculture Rural Development Food and Drug Administration and Related Agencies Appropriations Act of 2010. The bill provides $2.4 billion or 11.9 more than FY 2009 for programs under the Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee. Because of these excessive spending levels I voted against this legislation.
