By Tom Leppert width=72Despite Record Unemployment And The Continued Stagnation Of Our Economy President Obama And His Economic Team Still Do Not Understand That Burdensome Regulations Uncompetitive Tax Rates And Out-Of-Control Federal Spending Are Holding Back The Private Sector From Spurring Job Creation And Economic Growth." Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Dallas TX September 19 2011 U.S. Senate candidate Tom Leppert released the following statement in response to President Barack Obamas proposal to raise personal income taxes by $1.5 trillion over the next 10 years: Today President Obama called for an unfathomable $1.5 trillion tax increase in midst of the worst recession since the Great Depression. The President says the tax hike will only affect the wealthiest" Americans but that is simply misleading. Evidence has show time after time that increasing the top marginal rates of the personal income tax significantly harms business investment upon which the nations economic growth depends on. That affects all Americas not just the wealthiest." The President has also proven he is unwilling to make the hard calls necessary to save Social Security and Medicare two programs that seniors rely on that are both on the path to bankruptcy. Despite record unemployment and the continued stagnation of our economy President Obama and his economic team still do not understand that burdensome regulations uncompetitive tax rates and out-of-control federal spending are holding back the private sector from spurring job creation and economic growth. I have laid out bold proposals in my comprehensive economic plan to save entitlement programs on the verge of bankruptcy reform the tax code to make it fairer flatter and simpler for families and small businesses and make serious cuts to wasteful spending without raising taxes. It is time for President Obama to do the same and show some leadership buck party and political interests and work with Congressional Republicans to get the economy back on track without raising taxes."
