Congressman Michel McCaul
Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. This week the President offered more of the same failed budgetary policies we have seen since he took office. Our economy is still ailing our national debt is over $17 trillion and the President wants to tax and spend his way out of it. We know it wont work. It is fitting he released his budget on Groundhog Day; if the Presidents liberal wish list is granted America is sure to endure an even longer economic winter.
After years of unnecessary delays and political gamesmanship I am glad that the United States Army has decided to award Purple Hearts to the heroes who lost their lives or were injured in the terrorist attack on Ft. Hood in 2009. I want to thank my fellow members of Congress for working together to ensure that these brave men and women received the recognition they earned. More importantly I want to thank the victims their families and all of our armed services for serving their country with honor. Although nothing can ever repay them for their sacrifices I hope that honoring them with Purple Hearts will offer a sense of recognition and appreciation on behalf of a grateful nation.
Foreign fighters ISIS and homegrown terrorism remain the greatest threats to the national security of the United States. Next week I will chair a hearing of the Homeland Security Committee that will examine these issues further. In the lead up to the hearing this week I discussed ISIS on Fox News and CNN.
This week the House of Representatives voted once again to repeal ObamaCare replace it with commonsense market-based solutions. Americans deserve a health care system that is less expensive and which preserves the patient-doctor relationship without government interference.
Finally I supported the
Unfunded Mandates Information and Transparency Act and the
Small Business Regulatory Flexibility Improvement Act. These regulatory reforms bills are designed to rein in federal overreach and reduce burdens for businesses and taxpayers.
