The State of the Union Extraditing el Chapo and 2015 Year in Review

Congressman Michael T. McCaul mccaul0116Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. The President has appeased rather than opposed our adversaries from the start. So it is not surprising that in his last State of the Union Address he touted his nave and dangerous nuclear deal with Iran despite their military holding American sailors captive. And when it comes to the terror threat we face once again we heard the President offer rhetoric in the clouds while terrorists plot in our city streets. The same day as the State of the Union I met with law enforcement officials from San Bernardino and I can tell you what they need: actions not words to secure our country. Yet the White House is more focused on releasing battle-hardened extremists from Guantanamo Bay than keeping terrorists from opening up new safe havens across the world. Sadly it appears the President still wants to falsely declare the war against Islamist terror over while Americans want him to win it. This week I supported the passage of a joint resolution rejecting the Obama Administrations harmful Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule. This rule which is disguised as a water cleanup measure is nothing more than an EPA power grab which attempts to steal from states the right to regulate their waters. This rule proposed by unelected bureaucrats would have long-lasting and damaging effects on the lives of many hard-working farmers and ranchers in my district who are already struggling under harsh climate condition. The President should sign this bill and restore the rights to regulate water to the states where it belongs. I also joined Chairman Ed Royce of the House Foreign Affairs Committee on a letter to Mexican President Enrique Pea Nieto congratulating him on the recapturing of drug cartel leader Joaqun El Chapo" Guzmn and asking once again that Mexico promptly move forward with his extradition to the U.S.. As you are probably aware El Chapo has escaped from Mexican prisons twice most recently in July. I am encouraged by Attorney General Arely Gomezs statements that extradition proceedings should now begin. It is imperative that El Chapo finally face swift prosecution in the U.S for his many criminal charges ranging from drug smuggling to murder in several jurisdictions. My most important job as a Congressman is reaching out to you my constituents and providing help when I can. I take this job very seriously and my entire office works towards ensuring your voices opinions and requests are heard and answered as quickly as possible. It is because of you that we had such a successful year!
