The Steep Cost of Political Correctness in America Today

Straight Talk by Raul Torres raul-torresOver the past 40 years I have seen a lot of national and local politics take place. Since the election of Richard Nixon to the election of Barack Obama as President Americas degree of political correctness is now at an all time high. Political correctness in America is now a deadly poison that is slowing destroying the America I grew up believing in as a young man. A long long time ago a man named Ronald Reagan helped me and millions like me to believe in ourselves and in the greatness of Americas traditional values such as individual responsibility limited government freedom and liberty. Today these values are no longer looked upon as a guide for good citizenship but rather they have been replaced by political correctness that is dominant in the minds of millions of Americans and greatly promoted and advanced by the main stream media. This political correctness is often referred to as poison or as drinking the kool-aid. The sad truth is that many well-meaning people drink this poison every day and are completely unaware of its influence in their way of thinking. Scientific evidence shows that what most of us already know: If you say something often enough people will believe it even if it seems too far out at first to be taken seriously. This my friends is tragic. There was a time in our nations history when honesty hard work traditional marriage and neighbors helping each other were the standards by which our society was measured. There was a time in our history when divorce giving birth out of wedlock political corruption cheating on a test public profanity stealing from the government and other such behavior were utterly rejected by the majority of the American people and considered shameful behavior.  Today the shameful behavior is praised by millions and considered normal while many of our nation traditional values are cursed at ridiculed and often viewed as intolerable in the public arena. The time has come for self-reliant responsible citizens like you and me to lend our voices to the noblest cause we have seen in our lifetime.  Seventy years ago Americans were faced with the greatest challenge to freedom in their lifetime with the start of WW II.  Today as free Americans it is our natural born right to defend and fight for those God given rights we have entrusted in our nations Constitution. Now more than ever these freedoms are worth fighting for because if we choose to remain quiet or neutral we will lose them for sure. There is a price for freedom.  President Ronald Reagan once said Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didnt pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for protected and handed on for them to do the same. Another thought comes to mind.  Weve all heard it a million times but its as true now as it was the day Edmund Burke said All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. Those who seek to strip us of our rights are nothing more than those who promote politically correctness with the clear goal of paving the way for evil to triumph over the goodness of America.  The current battles we have recently seen over the national debt crisis and gun control are merely the result of the high cost of political correctness.  It is very possible that the way America chooses to deal with these two issues will determine the future of Americas freedom. Today the lines are on being drawn in the sand by both political parties. What side will you be on? Patrick Henry once declared Is life so dear or peace so sweet as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it Almighty God! I know not what course others may take but as for me give me liberty or give me death!  As for me and my house we choose to stand with Patrick Henry.
