Tincy Miller: A Strong Conservative with Crucial Experience in Challenging Times

Paxton Laubenberg Cathie Adams backing Tincy Miller for SBOE width=117Texas Insider Report: DALLAS Texas  Last week Texas Insider published a story covering Gallup Pollings Annual Confidence in American Institutions" survey. It  revealed that just 29 of Americans have confidence in the nations public schools. We believe the race for the Texas State Board of Educations 12th District provides a unique opportunity in candidate Tincy Miller for conservative experience to reverse that notion and carry the day during a crucial time for state education.   Geraldine Tincy" Miller a Dallas resident and long-time voice in the Texas public education system served as a sitting member on the SBOE for 26 years before suffering a surprising defeat in 2010 to George M. Clayton of Richardson. Because Clayton failed to make the run-off for re-election to this important SBOE slot the soon-to-be-vacant seat will be decided by voters of Dallas & Collin Counties. After two years of working in the public domain Miller has once again established herself as the leading candidate in the Republican race because of her long-time experience as a member of the SBOE. The 2012 Republican primary will not be a tired re-run of the 2010 race however where Miller and Clayton battle it out yet again. It will instead feature a July 31st run-off showdown between Miller and width=71relative newcomer to public education Gail Spurlock. We need more conservative leaders in Austin to protect Texas future says State Representative Jodie Laubenberg of Collin County. Tincy Miller will be a strong conservative voice for our state. She will bring this much needed voice to the State Board of Education. I ask you to join me in voting for Tincy in the July 31st Republican Primary" Laubenberg said. Miller has always placed the quality of the Texas public education system ahead of swaying political width=71tides while also earning vocal support from state GOP members. Joining Laubenberg (R-Dist. 89) in support of Miller are State Reps. Ken Paxton (R-Dist. 70) Will Hartnett (R-Dist. 114) and Jim Jackson (R-Dist. 115) who each praise Miller for width=72her conservative values in their respective endorsements. Miller is also being backed by respected conservative leaders both local & statewide such as Cathie Adams and Peggy Venable.

But SBOE District 12 voters shouldnt lose track of the real or harder questions which guide electoral decision making in this race:
  1. Which candidate has real experience showing they know how to serve the people who elect them?
  2. width=160Who can make the best case for their value as a member of the SBOE?
  3. Which candidate has a record showing they might actually know what theyre doing?
Tincy Miller has long demonstrated her ability to advance the well being of Texas students attending the public school system. As early as 1985 Miller an expert on the challenges presented by the learning difference Dyslexia helped create the first piece of legislation in Texas and the nation aimed at assisting Dyslexic children and was instrumental in the circulation of a Dyslexia Handbook which educated teachers on the needs and challenges of Dyslexic students. Miller was also largely responsible for the introduction of Phonics-based Teaching Curricula in Texas public schools one of the most successful approaches to the teaching of reading and writing ever implemented. Miller has also been the most outspoken defender of the Childrens Textbook Fund" a now $24 billion dollar Educational Endowment reserved for the funding of textbooks or other classroom materials for width=128public schools. On multiple occasions the fund has faced pressure from raids from Austin politicians" threatening to dip into the fund and offset irresponsible cuts made elsewhere. During Millers short absence and without her legislative expertise the SBOE watched as the 2011 Legislature neutered much of the Boards oversight powers for classroom materials.  After 26 years on the SBOE and two terms as the boards appointed Chair Miller arguably possesses one of the most experienced and productive resumes that exist in Texas education. These accomplishments are not politically decorative talking points for your neighborhood conservative rally. They are real results that have benefitted schools in cities and small towns across the state. Tincy Miller is a strong conservative who will put the well-being of Texas students ahead of politics. Miller is the only candidate running for the 12th Districts seat on the SBOE that can campaign on her record of working hard to improve public schools for Texas children. The Gallup Poll revelation does not have to be the case in Texas. We believe that the Texas race for the State Board of Educations 12thDistrict provides a unique opportunity in candidate Tincy Miller where truly conservative experience makes a difference that should win the day.
