TLR Lauds New GOP Platform Plank on Campaign Funding

Deceptively Named Trial Lawyer Groups Masquerade As Conservative Republicans  width=127Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas   Plaintiff lawyers provide over 80 of the funding for the Texas Democratic Party and clearly do not support the principles of the Republican Party of Texas said Texans for Lawsuit Reform PAC spokesman Sherry Sylvester applauding the Republican Party of Texas  for including a new plank in their platform to discourage organizations who do not support the principles of the Republican Party of Texas platform" from contributing to Republican candidates and GOP political action committees.   Republicans have taken a strong stand against candidates and organizations taking money from political action committees that are funded by personal injury trial lawyers.  Using deceptive names including Conservative Voters of Texas" Texans for Family Values" and Texans for Insurance Reform" personal injury trial lawyers are trying to trick voters and surreptitiously influence elections" Sylvester said. Democrat personal injury and mass tort lawyers contributed over $2 million mostly through these deceptively named groups in three state senate GOP primary races in May. The name Texans for Lawsuit Reform" describes who we are and the policies we support.  The new Republican Party Platform plank is a step in the right direction." The new platform plank reads:
Contributions to Conservative Candidates - We strongly oppose the Republican Party of Texas Republican National Committee the National Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee Republican candidates and elected officials political action committees and politically active non-profit organizations from being financially supported by any individual or organization that have personal or financial ties directly or indirectly to organizations who do not support the principles of the Republican Party of Texas Platform.
