Transportation Hearings Meetings Approach

From Representative Ken Paxton ken-paxtonCollin Countys need for improved and expanded roads is tremendous.  I often hear from my readers about transportation issues so this week I would like to share some information with you about upcoming hearings and meetings where the public has the opportunity to provide input that will help shape transportation plans for our area. The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is hosting a public meeting at Allen City Hall (305 Century Parkway; Allen Texas 75013) on Monday March 8 2010 at 6:30 PM  This meeting will include the following topics:
  • Mobility: Determining the Future of Transportation in the Region;
  • Status Report: List of Funded Projects and Economic Recovery Project Progress;
  • Advancing Transportation: Drafting Plans for Potential Funding Opportunities.
North Texas Council of Governments serves the 16-county region of North Central Texas.  NCTCOG has over 230 member governments including 16 counties numerous cities school district and special districts. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will host a Town Hall meeting at the City of Plano City Council Chambers (1520 Avenue K; Plano Texas) on Wednesday March 10 2010 at 6:30 PM.  The focus of this meeting will be on transportation issues affecting the North Texas region.  This meeting will be webcast For more information about this meeting please visit http://www.txdot.gov/public_involvement/town_hall_meetings/plano_town_hall.htm. The North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) will conduct two Public Meetings to discuss the design for the extension of the Dallas North Tollway (DNT) in Collin Denton and Grayson counties from Farm to Market 428 north to approximately FM 121 referred to as the Dallas North Tollway Extension. The first public meeting will be held from 6 PM until 7:30 PM on Tuesday March 9 2010 at the PointBank Community Room (200 S. Hwy. 377; Pilot Point Texas 76258).  The second public meeting will be held from 6 PM until 7:30 PM on Thursday March 11 2010 at the Celina Middle School Cafeteria (710 E. Pecan Street; Celina Texa s 75009). The purpose of these public meetings is to provide information regarding the development of the proposed DNT alignment alternatives and to receive input/comments from the public. Maps drawings and other information about the project will be on display which will show the alignment alternatives and preliminary design information. The study team will be available at the displays to assist in orientation and interpretation of the drawings and other materials.
