“Wade Gent is the kind of ally our public schools and our kids need in the Texas Legislature to protect their future. Wade is a dedicated public servant and proven leader who will be a much better representative for this district than the incumbent” Texas State Teachers Association President Donna New Haschke said in announcing the 65000-member organization’s endorsement in the House District 4 Republican primary.

“Wade inherited his commitment to public service from his father who was a longtime county judge. Wade currently serves as an associate municipal judge a city attorney and a planning and zoning commission member. We need his experience and insight in the Legislature” Haschke added.
In the Texas House of Representatives Gent’s priorities will include:• Ending the state’s reliance on TAKS testing and adopting an accountability system that works.
• Getting teacher pay up to at least the national average.
• Bringing Texas’ per-pupil expenditure up to at least the national average.
• Reducing class sizes.
• Ensuring that Texas keeps its commitment to our retired school employees.
In addition Gent opposes siphoning off public dollars from our public schools and sending them to private schools.
Early voting for the primary runs Feb. 19 through Feb. 29. Primary Election Day is Tuesday March 4.
