
AUSTIN The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is continuing its commitment to the success of tomorrows workforce through its co-sponsorship of the ExxonMobil Texas Science and Engineering Fair for the eighth consecutive year.
Outstanding Texas students will compete in the fair that The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) will host from Friday March 27 through Monday March 30 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio.
The Texas Workforce Commission is proud to be one of the sponsors of the Texas Science and Engineering Fair" said TWC Chairman Tom Pauken. Opportunities such as these shine the spotlight on todays young leaders who are excelling in science and engineering and inspire them to continue exploring and learning for ongoing success in the future."
The science fair is officially sanctioned by the Society for Science & the Public the annual presenter of the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). The statewide competition is for Texas high school and middle school students who qualify at regional competitions.
More than 1000 students are expected to compete at the fair for scholarships and other special awards. The winners from the senior division will have the opportunity to advance to the ISEF competition in Reno Nev. in May and attend the Governors Science and Technology Champions Academy residential summer camp at UTSA.
When students participate in such learning experiences as the Texas Science and Engineering Fair and the Governors Science and Technology Champions Academy they are embracing a couple of the best courses for developing skills for future workforce success" said Ronny Congleton TWC Commissioner Representing Labor.
Supported by TWC the Texas Science Careers Consortium (TSCC) is a coalition of science and technology deans from colleges and universities across the state dedicated to addressing issues facing Texas employers and job seekers in these fields. Along with ExxonMobil fair co-sponsors include TSCC the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and several major science and engineering industry employers.
Entries will be judged throughout the day Sunday March 29 with winning projects announced during an awards ceremony the following day. More information about the ExxonMobil Texas Science and Engineering Fair is available online at
