Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas ⎯ The Texas Workforce Commissions (TWC) Commissioner Representing Employers and the Society for Human Resource Management Texas State Council (Texas SHRM) are pleased to announce the formulation of a collaborative partnership to co-sponsor this seasons Texas Business Conferences.
The conferences which feature business employment law and human resource topics are offered at locations throughout Texas. As a co-sponsor Texas SHRM will begin offering SHRM and Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) recertification credits for human resource professionals attending a conference. Human resource professionals are required to earn professional development credits every three years to maintain their credentials.
The Texas Business Conferences offer employers human resource professionals business owners and managers employment law updates. The conference provides valuable information for employers and business owners concerning the legal issues associated with operating a business in Texas.

Employers receive practical up-to-date information for operating a successful business and learn techniques to more effectively manage employees. Seminar topics include: Texas employment law and the basics of hiring; federal and Texas wage and hour laws; the unemployment claim and appeal process; independent contractors; and employee policy handbooks. Certified public accountants who attend can earn six hours of continuing education credit and other conference participants may qualify for general professional credit.
Along with professional credits participants receive the latest edition of the popular publication Especially for Texas Employers which addresses basic legal issues regarding hiring post-employment and work-separation policies. Texas Business Conferences occur many times a year at locations throughout the state. The one-day conferences are held on Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and include the following locations and dates: LongviewMay 6; VictoriaMay 20; College StationJune 10; McAllenJune 24 AmarilloJuly 1; FredericksburgAug 5; AbileneAug. 19; The WoodlandsSept. 2; MidlandSept. 16; and MesquiteSept. 30. The two-day conference in ArlingtonJuly 21-22 will be held on Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 8:30-3:45 p.m.
The cost per person to attend is $125 (one-day) $199 (two-days) and is nonrefundable. Space is limited so participants are encouraged to register as soon as possible.
