Texas Insider Report: LONGVIEW Texas Today State Representative David Simpson (R-Longview) announced that all sitting Republican Precinct Chairmen in Upshur County have unanimously endorsed his campaign for re-election to Texas House District 7.
Precinct 7 Chairman and local businessman Blanton Dawson said I support Rep. David Simpson because hes a strong conservative who looks out for the interests of we the people. His opponent is a backslapping good ole boy. Bottom line: David Simpson is a good man."
The purpose of government has been far overreached and that growth endangers our Texas way of life. Upshur County became part of District 7 as a result of redistricting this past session. The new District 7 is comprised of the entireties of Upshur and Gregg Counties.
Rep. Simpson was elected in 2010 after defeating a 14-year incumbent politician in the primary. After his freshman session Simpson received the Taxpayer Champion" award from Texans for Fiscal Responsibility and the Freshman of the Year" award from Young Conservatives of Texas; he was also named Co-MVP of the Freshman Class" by Capitol Inside for his effectiveness as a legislator.
