UPDATE Storm Alex: Governor Deploys State Guard Personnel Equipment to South Texas

Gonda Moncada width=116TEXAS Insider Report: CAMP Mabry Austin Texas    The governor has authorized Texas Military Forces personnel and equipment to be deployed in support of local and state resources preparing for Tropical Storm Alex which is threatening the Texas Coast. Governor Rick Perry has authorized the activation of up to 2500 Texas Guardsmen to assist before during and after what may become Hurricane Alex expected to make landfall Wednesday evening or Thursday morning.  Included in the assets are: 
  • 8  UH-60 helicopters for search & rescue;
  • 3  C-130s aircraft to assist during air evacuations if that becomes necessary;
  • High profile vehicles capable of maneuvering through high water crossings or flooding;
  • Shelter management teams medics & communication packages to restore basic communications if towers are damaged or down.
