Van de Putte Applauds New Veterans Mental Health Funding

Van de Putte is Chair of the Texas Senate Committee on Veteran Affairs and Military Installations a position she has held since 2003. Governor Rick Perry Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst and Speaker of the House Joe Straus announced today a commitment of more than $1 million toward the pilot program the Texas Veterans Initiative that will address the mental health needs of Texas veterans and their families. I always tell people that Texas is the number-one state in the nation for veterans active-duty military and their families" said Senator Van de Putte. Efforts like this prove it. By maximizing state local and private funding Texas can deliver critical resources to those who are providing face-to-face help for our heroic veterans and their families.
