Voters Snub Far Left Ideology

texinsider-button1By Luke Baker On Tuesday Commonwealth of Virginia voters proved that the far left ideas ushered in by the 2008 elections are guiding the nation in the wrong direction and that the Clinton Legacy may be coming to an abrupt end. Creigh Deeds won 10 of Virginias 11 congressional districts beating out former Hillary Clinton Presidential Campaign Chairman Terry McAuliffe.  McAuliffes fundraising numbers were almost double than Deeds and he had former President Bill Clinton campaigning alongside him stopping at rallies recording commercials and lending his voice to telephone endorsements.  Yet Deeds won almost 50 percent of the primary vote. The upset is another blow to the Clintons campaign power still recovering from the loss to Barack Obama in the 2008 Democratic Presidential Primary. Deeds victory also translates that a candidate with more conservative credentials has a better shot of carrying the state in the 2010 general election.  The National Rifle Association endorsed Deeds in the past.  He was also by far the more conservative candidate of the Democrats running in the primary. The Pew Research Center released a survey that showed that there is a surge in the number of independent voters going to the polls and that these voters are swayed by a centrist message. width=93Deeds will face off against Republican nominee Bob McDonnell who defeated Deeds in the 2005 Virginia Attorney General race by a very close margin. Deeds despite his moderate belief on gay marriage guns and the death penalty is still a liberal and attacked McDonnell as being part of the George W. Bush legacy an age old argument in the Democratic playbook. McDonnells message is on recovery energy and job creation. Folks can try to distract from that all they want.  From a political and tactical perspective I think I can understand why they want to but that doesnt give much credit to the voters here in Virginia" said Ed Gillespie former Chairman of the Republican National Committee to Talking Points Memo in a conference call. The Virginia Gubernatorial Race will be one of the most important in the nation.  If McDonnell pulls ahead it will be the first indication that voters are ready to reject the far left values that elected President Obama.  That trend has already started with the defeat of Terry McAuliffe on Tuesday.
