WATCH TONIGHT: Texas Comptroller Debate Slated for Central Texas

7 p.m. Live T-SPAN Video Stream, Syndicated Radio Host Lynn Woolley to moderate.

2014RepubComptrollerCandidatesTexas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – The Central Texas Tea Party will host a debate with all four Republican candidates for Texas State Comptroller of Public Accounts in the picture-postcard village of Salado, located halfway between Waco and Austin. The debate will be carried via live video stream on the T-SPAN (Texas State Public Affairs) Network.  

Syndicated radio host Lynn Woolley will be the moderator for the evening. The candidates are:

The Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts is charged by the Texas Constitution with collecting substantially all tax revenue owed to the State. It then calculates the local portion of these taxes and returns it to cities, counties and other taxing entities.

This hard-hitting debate will be held on Tuesday, February 4 with doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the event beginning precisely at 7:00 p.m. The forum is open to the general public and will be carried via live video stream on the T-SPAN (Texas Public Affairs) Network at www.T-Span.TV.

The candidates are:

  • Glenn Hegar – State Senator, District 18 (Katy)
  • Harvey Hilderbran – State Representative, District 53 (Kerrville)
  • Debra Medina – Executive Director, We Texans (Wharton)
  • Raul Torres – Former State Representative District 33, (Corpus Christi)

Each of these candidates brings his or her own unique point of view as they discuss and debate the issues that will propel Texas into the next generation. With most of our statewide officials either retiring or running for higher office, 2014 Comptroller Repub. Candidates2voters are called on to make momentous decisions in the primaries and in the general election to follow.

The State Comptroller also certifies to the Legislature the amount of money on hand and anticipated revenues for the next two years. The Legislature may not spend funds in excess of these estimates.

The venue for this forum is the beautiful Tenroc Ranch, off Interstate 35, just two miles west of Salado.
