Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Well it is after the first week of new session and Im in both liberal papers! Perhaps Ill be a more successful legislator now that Im gone! Seems my bill which was politically incorrect last session become correct during the interim!
Anyways Im glad to see amazing agreement to my argument that our institutions of higher learning have through the results of political correctness progressively dropped teaching of western civilization while increasing teaching of other cultures.
I hope that our new conservative legislators as Sen. Cruz and the many fine Texas Statehouse legislators are able to accomplish what I as a conservative have failed. That is to communicate the truth that weright-wing Tea Party conservatives desire every child and person in our country to have their opportunity to achieve their American Dreams.
That we believe the path to that opportunity and success is the path God granted us in the United States and especially the great state of Texas afforded through the sweat of labor blood of our military and for this best chance for all mankind called America.
As revealed in the attached media I inadequately expressed the full intent of we who desire this better chance for our citizens. Quickly with the distrust between races parties beliefs you view how any suggestions to honor our history and cultures as Americans brings animosity. Later I shared with my colleague Representative Boris Miles who you can view below my adversary in this debate that we were both desirous of the best for all Texans but were just traveling different paths to accomplish such.
The same battle was earlier fought and revealed in the national media as our State Board of Education fought over social study courses for Texas.
The same distrust was evident between those conservatives who believed the best history is the truth of our forefathers and both their good and bad decisions which has created this state and nation vs those who distrusted and believed that we should not emphasize our European born founders as much as increase the history of the many other cultures who indeed were a part and now are a great part of this state and nation.
We as conservatives must learn how to express our desire is not exclusion but inclusion. Yet must stand and defend as in our oath in court the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
I can remember how in coming to the Legislature in 1997 I asked in the Republican Caucus meeting how we might address the human service crises and the increasing roles of those depended on government.
I was answered to wait and I would have the opportunity to do such during session. After 14 years in the House weve made little progress. In fact Comptroller Combs has reported during this recent interim Human Services including Medicaid is the fastest growing portion of our state budget and will soon overtake public education as the number one expenditure of our Texas tax dollars unless we address such. (So much for that argument that we should not have moral arguments included in fiscal discussions.)
I pray the new breed of Conservatives the people of Texas have wisely sent to Austin and Washington can better address and express that we believe the proven path of true compassion to those in need is an engine of a strong free market economy with the moral compass and steering of our communities of faith.
