What You Need to Know About the November 5th Election

By State Rep. Jason Isaac

jason-issacTexas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – The November 5th election is quickly approaching!  Early voting has begun and runs through November 1st.  There will be nine constitutional amendments on the ballot. I want to bring your attention to a couple of amendments of note.

Proposition 1 is particularly near and dear to my heart, and I was a joint author of this legislation.  This proposition will extend the same property tax exemption that the spouse of a 100% disabled veteran receives to the spouse of those service men and women who are killed in action and never return home.

This is just one small way that we can help provide these families, who have sacrificed so much, with a little financial relief after losing their loved one while fighting for our country to protect our freedoms.

Additionally, you may have already heard some discussion of Proposition 6, which will allow a one-time allocation of $2B from the Rainy Day Fund to finance our state water plan.  Water is a vital resource, and although we have had a state water plan in place for many years, we have not provided the necessary funding to implement it.

Through programs such as local government matching as well as loan repayment, this one-time investment will fund water projects for decades to come and will help to ensure a reliable water supply for future generations.

  • Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPS
  • Texas personal identification card issued by DPS
  • Texas concealed handgun license issued by DPS
  • United States military identification card containing the person’s photograph
  • United States citizenship certificate containing the person’s photograph

If you don’t already have one of the IDs listed above, you may obtain a free Election Identification Card. The Secretary of State offers a easy to use website to answer all of your election related questions.
