With each new piece of legislation a new battle.

Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Unfortunately I think we can all agree that in this day & age virtue is not a word we ascribe to Americas people or politicians. The Founders believed that in order for the new nation to survive the people would have to elect to office virtuous men. But in order to do that the people must be virtuous; therefore it would be important for the government to promote virtue.
I apprehend no danger to our country from a foreign foe. Our destruction should it come at all will be from another quarter. I must confess I do apprehend some danger I fear that they may place too implicit a confidence in their public servants and fail properly to scrutinize their conduct; that in this way they may be made the dupes of designing men and become the instruments of their own undoing. Make them intelligent and they will be vigilant; give them the means of detecting the wrong and they will apply the remedy."
U.S. Senator Daniel Webster (1782-1852)
This is one of my favorite quotes. It so clearly states what has happened to the American people.
Fortunately the last two years have started an awakening of the silent majority as proved by voter turnout and election results.
Our founders were very astute and intuitive men who understood the propensity of people towards laziness in searching out the truth when scrutinizing candidates for office and then holding them accountable once elected. What they do once in office is all that really matters and it is up to the electorate to make sure they do what they said they would do.
What a joy it is to see that We the People" are rising up to take a stand for a return to the Constitution. Now the real work begins in keeping our representatives truly representing us and upholding the Constitution to the best of their ability.
Samuel Adams the father of the American Revolution said
He therefore is the truest friend to
liberty of his country who tries most to promote its virtue and who so far as his power and influence extend will not suffer a man to be chosen into any office of power and trust who is not a wise and virtuous man … The sum of all is if we would most truly enjoy this gift of Heaven let us become a Virtuous people."
This great patriot knew that liberty and the happiness of the people would not survive even with the wisest constitution and wisest laws when the peoples manners become universally corrupt.
With the current attitude of the elite of this nation that absolutes and values are politically incorrect and obsolete we are bombarded daily with the basest of behavior in our citizens and leaders. I am daily astounded by the bad behavior we witness on reality TV and on the news. What used to be considered highly inappropriate behavior even in private is now daily flaunted in our faces.
Clearly we need a revival of virtue in this nation.
When a large percentage of the population have no problem with inappropriate touching for the sake of so-called safety you know we are way too desensitized to immodesty in our culture. We have accepted skimpy clothing and sexual immorality as normal even to the point of dressing our little girls like little hookers.
Privacy is becoming a thing of the past. The only time it is defended is when it pertains to homosexuality or abortion. This is the result of 50 years of stripping away the basic human rights and values upon which the nation was founded.
Life has become cheap because respect for life is at an all time low.
When the government does not encourage virtue in its people it dooms itself to ultimate failure. Every great

nation or empire that has collapsed has done so because of moral collapse as the population became less virtuous.
With momentum swinging back to a more conservative approach to government it is now our responsibility to stay informed and educated watching closely those we have elected for any signs of forgetting why they were elected. Our system requires us to be eternally vigilant and diligent to make sure our elected officials truly represent us and protect our liberty lest we end up being duped by designing men and women.
The war we wage will never be won because there will always be those ready to take away our freedom. We must be as discerning and intuitive as the founders so that we see through the enticing words to the actual motives.
Electing capable representatives who respect the Constitution and believe in limited government is important to the future of the nation but they should not be driven by a party spirit" but by their virtue and integrity.
Keeping this in mind we the people" must be willing to make a commitment to not fall back into complacency but be ever diligent in watching the actions of our elected officials.
With the introduction of each new piece of legislation there is a new battle.
We are to evaluate the proposed legislation from the perspective of the Constitution and then let our representatives know where we stand and do our best to make sure they vote accordingly. When they do not vote according to what they say they believe we need to send a loud and clear message letting them know we are watching their every vote.
When they vote according to their stated values and beliefs upholding conservative principles then we need to thank them.
All the basic beliefs of the founders have been and are being destroyed by a government that no longer resembles the government first designed by our extraordinary Founding Fathers.
The good news is that We the People" are waking up and rising up to take a stand and

speak out for a return to the Constitution and liberty.
As we do this it is important that we stay diligent holding our elected officials feet to the fire so they know daily they are being watched and that we will not forget what they do in office.
