Renewing the American Dream for Our Prosperity" a Focus on Jobs & the Economy

width=142Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. The Obama Administration continues its celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month this week with a focus on jobs & the economy. Numbering more than 50 million on the mainland and another 4 million in Puerto Rico Hispanics are no longer found in a handful of states but all across America according to the latest census numbers.   As the largest and fastest growing minority group in America the Hispanic communitys ability to thrive is vital to the future of our nation and is critical to our out-educating out-innovating and out-building the rest of the world. In this spirit the theme of Hispanic Heritage Month 2011 is Renewing the American Dream." This weeks focus on our prosperity" comes as the President sends his plan to jumpstart economic growth and job creation to the Joint Committee a plan that lays the foundation for prosperity for years to come. Building on the progress already made and the Presidents plan for moving forward the Administration will host a number of activities this week at the White House and across the country through the Small Business Administration and the Department of Commerce. In addition the White House will feature Hispanics from throughout the Administration who are contributing to the Presidents vision for winning the future with a focus on the economy in a daily blog post as part of the Renewing the American Dream" series.   • This week the Obama Administration will also celebrate Citizenship Day and Constitution Week held annually September 17th 23rd highlighting the contributions of generations of Latino immigrants who renew Americas entrepreneurial spirit and are helping us write the next great chapter in Americas story. As a part of the weeks activities the White House will host a special screening of Citizen USA: A 50 State Road Trip directed by Alexandra Pelosi and recently featured on HBO.

 U.S. Department of State Hosts Conversation with Univision Network:
    • In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month the U.S. Department of States Hispanic Employees Council of Foreign Affairs Agencies (HECFAA) the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs and the Office of Civil Rights will host a conversation with Univision Network anchor Maria Elena Salinas at noon on Wednesday September 21 at 12:30 p.m. in the Dean Acheson Auditorium of the U.S. Department of State.
    • Deputy Secretary of State William J. Burns will deliver opening remarks.
